C1 Esterase Inhibitor Immunoturbidimetric Reagents

C1 Esterase Inhibitor Immunoturbidimetric Reagents

The Fortress Diagnostics C1 Esterase Inhibitor assay is intended for the in vitro quantitative determination of human C1 Esterase Inhibitor in human serum and plasma.

C1 Esterase inhibitor is a protein mainly produced by the liver and is involved as a regulator in the complement system, kallikrein-kinin system and the coagulation cascade. C1 esterase inhibitor deficiency can cause intermittent angioedema and dermal swellings. Patients may present with acute abdominal pains and diagnosis may be confusing. The most common cause of C1 Esterase inhibitor deficiency is hereditary, due to mutations in genes controlling the coagulation cascade.
