The Fortress Diagnostics Zinc kit is used for the quantitative in vitro determination of zinc in serum, plasma, CSF and urine. 

Zinc is an essential trace metal, which is second only to iron. It is present in zinc metalloenzymes e.g. carbonic anhydrase, alkaline phosphatase, R.N.A and D.N.A polymerases, thimidine kinase, carboxypeptidases and alcohol dehydrogenase. Zinc deficiency in humans can lead to skin lesions, irritability, loss of hair and growth retardation in children. Zinc insufficiency is associated with impaired immunological function.
