Beta-2-Microglobulin

Beta-2-Microglobulin

β2-Microglobulin is a low molecular weight protein (11800D) found of the surface of all cells except erythrocytes and the trophoblastic layer of the placenta. It is a constituent of the light chain of human histocompatibility antigens HLA, A, B and C. β2M is found on T and B cells and in tumour associated transplantation antigens. β2M may control the expression of antigens on the cell surface and their biosynthesis.  In healthy individuals, β2M is synthesized at a rate of 9 mg/hours and is eliminated mostly by the kidneys.

Fortress Diagnostics manufactures Beta-2-Microglobulin reagents designed for CA 180/270/400 Furuno/Daytona systems.
